I want to share my experience with meditation, and explain how it transformed me. Lets keep one thing up front, I am no zen master, or meditation expert. I have however, definitely gained a new freedom, happiness, and inner peace that I think most people never know.
This transformation in me was slow, as was my adoption of meditation. But now, being able to look back over the years, I clearly see the role my practice has played, in helping me to grow and develop. Oddly enough, it was only through a long absence of this practice, that I became aware of discomfort slipping back into my life, and the value of a regular persistent practice.
Just this realization was enough to swing the door back wide-open, and allow a deep sense of peace to come back to me immediately.
I believe practice is all that it takes to achieve results. I don’t know that mastery of meditation is even possible while raising a family, and working 9-5, or 9-9 to make ends meet. But, I am here to tell you, and I beg you to believe me without any reservation for your own sake, what little time you put in will make a huge difference, and if you can’t make it a regular thing, small amounts of time practicing it will transform your life. Mastery Is Not Required!
I have to say that the more emotionally unbalanced you are, the more anxious, angry, afraid, the more profound the experience will be for you. I say this because this is my experience, and belief. But I don’t know how more balanced people perceive the experience.
Have you ever met someone with unwavering self confidence. They have a shine in their eyes, they are obviously at peace with the world, inside and out. They exude this sense of joy and lightheartedness. They have a magnetic personality, you may just enjoy their company and not know why. Many spiritual teachers have these traits, and they can be yours too.
If the above are not something you are interested in, there is scientific proof meditation will reduce stress, thus boosting your immune system, helping you to live a healthier life. It is also known to be effective with all kinds of other medical conditions such as: ADD, Chronic Fatigue, PTSD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and many more…
There are about a billion books about meditation and courses you can take, but they are not necessary. Though I have found a few to aide in my journey. I especially love Eckhart Tolle’s The Power Of Now. I love the way he explains the deathless timeless realm. But, if you want to begin now, here is all you have to do.
Concentrate as best you can on your breathing. This will help to quite your mind. If you catch your self thinking about something, just shift your concentration back to your breathing. Practice creating this inner stillness and see if your life does not transform before your eyes. That’s really all there is to it.
You may not find it helpful at first, but this is why I ask you to believe me when I tell you, this is for you. Trust and practice. You will be developing the peace you want inside, and as it develops, it will manifest in everything you do. What you create within (peace), is created without (in your life).
When the world outside crashes into you, you will suddenly realize that you have an unshakable peace within that will be your port for any storm. A new coping ability that was not there before. You will slowly develop it by practicing meditation. More information is not needed.
Deepak Chopra discusses the law of attraction with regard to meditation in his latest program “The Future Of God”.
Practicing meditation is a lot like learning to play the guitar. At first your very clumsy and easily frustrated, at least I was. Like the guitar, you just need to stay with it.
While I said, you already know all you need in order to begin, and this is true. It would not hurt to have a little help along the way. I have already mentioned a couple amazing authors, but I would like to include a program from another author that has an amazing program. “Bill Harris” has CD’s and MP3’s for immediate download designed to help immediately.
